Pembroke Hospital provides an Adolescent Inpatient Program that treats 13- to 17-year-olds struggling with a psychiatric disorder so severe they require around-the-clock care in a 24-hour facility. The program helps patients work through their issues through crisis evaluation, intervention and aftercare services designed to sustain long-term psychiatric wellness.
Patients receive an individualized treatment plan devised by a psychiatrist, case manager, mental health associates and nurses. The treatment team works with schools to give patients a smooth transition back into the classroom, and an external tutoring agency helps them with schoolwork. Students are granted excused medical absence while in the program.
After graduating from the inpatient program, adolescent patients can step-down to partial hospitalization if continued care is considered necessary.
Please read our Adolescent Inpatient handbook for complete details on the program.
